I changed my mind. I'm not going to continue to add energy to what happened. It's over, it's done, let's move on, shall we? (hat tip to Scandalous)
Nothing to see here...move along, move along...

ReplyDeleteGood post!
ReplyDeleteAnd I fully agree. =)
I also watched the pile-on the other day with dismay. I found several of the comments aimed toward the blogger more offensive and directly vicious than the initial offensive comment itself.
ReplyDeleteI read your message as well and it took me aback to think that one or two of the "I hate" comments were probably mine.
It's increasingly difficult to keep ourselves from slipping into the easiest/shortest phraseology, especially in a format like MUA where we try to fit comments into a limited number of characters.
Should I spend the extra letters and time to say "I am disappointed with the application of sheer polishes" when I could say "I hate sheers"? Maybe so. Definitely something to think about.
Anyway, thank you for adding your voice on the side of speaking respectfully. I just wanted to let you know that while I didn't comment on your post I did read it, appreciate it, and I took it to heart.
I still have no idea what this is all about, maybe that's better;)
ReplyDeleteBut I can tell that your words are beautifully written, and very true!
Well, you said it yourself - we're all different and we react differently. From what you said, you should respect their reaction... Not all people are like you - not all people try to be nice to others. Frankly, it's impossible to be kind to some people... =) But that's just my point of view.
ReplyDeleteThanks Thess, Rachel: "I dislike (don't like) sheers" could work too. :) nihrida: I do respect it and I have not been disrespectful to anyone. I'm just hoping to put some perspective on this silly world we ALL live in.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to go with Nihrida on this one. Everyone's entitled to their own reaction. For all anyone knows, they could have each talked to each other privately and decided to call a truce. Who knows. But for us Americans, we're used to free speech, and some choose to exercise it. I don't think its a matter of who's right who's wrong. Its just two people with very opposite views. And they're allowed to say what they want. If people don't want to witness it, they have the right to go chill on the "cheezburger" sites and avoid it.
ReplyDeleteScandalous: So you agree with me...sort of. I didn't say don't say what's on your mind, I'm saying think through the REaction and then choose your actions. Say what you have to say respectfully - like you did here. Reactions followed by reactions...that gets messy.
ReplyDeleteGoing to go do some chillin' on the "cheezeburger" sites nao. ;)
